More About the General Approach of Forgiveness Workshops & Seminars

Research on the psychological relevance of forgiveness verifies its postive impact on physical and mental health.  This timeless principle is shown to be highly effective in its therapuetic application for anxiety, anger, depression, divorce, post-traumatic stress and unresolved resentments.

The Mindfulness-Based Forgiveness Workshops I facilitate blend methods from forgiveness therapy models, mindfulness-based approaches (compassion & awareness practices), as well as consciousness-based principles inspired by the work of David R. Hawkins, MD, PhD.  There is an emphasis on self-forgiveness as a bridge toward forgiving others.  Depending on the focus of the workshop, some of the general topics covered include:

- How to discover inner obstacles to letting go of resentments
- Understand why we hold onto resentments, despite the pain and hurt
- A mindfulness-based approach to compassion and self-forgiveness
- How to move through painful emotions of resentments
- Approaches to transcending cycles of resentments in relationships
- Understand what forgiveness is and is not (i.e. not passivity or condoning)
- Understand the significance and power of your core values throughout the forgiveness process
- Integrate spiritual principles of forgiveness into a daily mindfulness practice

The workshops I facilitate allow for a warm and safe environment to explore these and other topics. My style is engaging, straightforward and humorous. Forgiveness asks something seemingly impossible, often in the most challenging of circumstances. In recognition of this, I always invite participants to bring to workshops, where possible, an attitude of courage, inner-honesty and compassion as we move through the forgiveness process together.

Participants need only share as much as they feel comfortable, and still benefit greatly from the workshops. The only criteria for participation is a genuine desire to overcome the burden of resentments and a willingness to practice the forgiveness process.  Workshops are a mix of presentations, facilitated exercises, and group discussion.
